In a first of its kind lawsuit, the U.S. State of California is taking ExxonMobil to court over its recycling practices. The lawsuit alleges that the world’s largest producer of raw materials has been deceiving the public over its capacity and capability of plastic recycling. The move comes at a time when the state governor has signed a new bill to remove all plastic shopping bags starting in 2026, in a push to address the growing plastics pollution crisis.
