CGTN

On October 6, Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the U.S., sent a congratulatory letter to the 15th Annual Dragon Boat, Kite, and Lantern Festival in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington region of Texas.

Xie Feng said that dragon boats, kites, and lanterns are important symbols of traditional Chinese culture, reflecting the Chinese people’s longing and pursuit of a better life.

Over the years, Chinese communities in the U.S. have been dedicated to preserving Chinese culture, fostering closer ties between the people of China and the U.S., and contributing positively to cultural exchange and the development of a diverse local society.

Xie noted that Oct. 1 marked the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and over 1.4 billion Chinese people were joyfully celebrating the National Day, sharing the pride and prosperity of their nation.

Under the strategic plans set out by the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the country is further advancing comprehensive reforms and promoting Chinese-style modernization, he said. A China that continues its reform and opening-up will surely bring new opportunities and momentum for development to countries worldwide, he added.

China welcome friendly individuals from all sectors of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area to share in the opportunities presented by China’s modernization, actively promote and engage in exchanges and cooperation between China and the U.S. in various fields, and contribute to mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations, enhancing the stability, health, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations, the ambassador said.

About 20,000 participants from Texas’ political, business, academic, and overseas Chinese communities attend the event.

Dear Everyone,

On behalf of the Embassy of China in the U.S., I would like to extend my warm congratulations to the Marco Polo World Foundation for hosting the 2024 Dragon Boat, Kite, and Lantern Festival in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington (DFW) metroplex, Texas. I wish this event great success!

Dragon boats, kites, and lanterns are important symbols of traditional Chinese culture. The dragon boat race represents unity, progress, and perseverance; kites symbolize ideals and hope; and lanterns express reunion and joy. Together, they not only reflect the Chinese people’s aspirations for a better life but also embody the unyielding spirit of pursuing dreams. Over the years, Chinese compatriots in the U.S. have worked hard in various fields, committed to passing on Chinese culture, and have demonstrated a positive spirit. You have helped promote understanding of China and Chinese culture among the American people, bringing the two nations closer and making positive contributions to cultural exchanges and the development of multiculturalism in local society. I sincerely thank you for your efforts and applaud your perseverance!

October 1st marked the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and more than 1.4 billion Chinese people are joyfully celebrating the National Day, sharing the pride of our flourishing and thriving motherland. Currently, under the strategic plan set out by the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people are deepening reforms and advancing Chinese-style modernization. “There will be times when the wind and waves rise high, yet the sails will go forward through the clouds to cross the deep sea.” I wish everyone a wonderful day filled with unforgettable memories as you celebrate by racing dragon boats, flying kites, and hanging lanterns. I hope you have a joyful festival and wish you all the best! May our great motherland be prosperous, and may our people live in happiness and good health! May the friendship between the people of China and the United States continue to deepen!
