The multi-purpose port of Chancay, just north of Lima, is expected to start operations late this year. Locals are already discovering business opportunities and getting ready for a new era of booming trade.

CGTN’s Dan Collyns reports from Peru.

It took almost five years to build but South America’s largest and most modern port is about to be inaugurated in Peru. The cutting-edge port was built by Chinese state-owned company Cosco Shipping.

CGTN’s Dan Collyns explains why this project is so important not only for Peru but also for international trade.

South America’s new largest port will be just minutes away from Peru’s capital of agriculture. Few kilometers separate the port of Chancay from the valley of Huaral where small and big farmers are getting ready to boost production and exports to Asia.

CGTN’s Dan Collyns has the story.
