The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday, Feb. 19, convened an emergency meeting amid reports of human rights violations and abuse in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. 

According to the UN, the expanding conflict is taking a toll on the civilian population, with tens of thousands now displaced.
