Just nine months ahead of the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference or COP30, Brazil has joined OPEC+, an alliance of major oil-exporting nations, reinforcing the country’s position as a global oil player.
The move coincides with a push to expand oil drilling into the embattled Amazon region and has drawn harsh criticism from environmental groups who claim Brazil cannot have it both ways. Lucrecia Franco reports from Rio de Janeiro.
