US says tentative agreement reached in Ukraine-Russia talks in Riyadh

During talks facilitated by the United States in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Russia agreed to cease maritime attacks and attacks on energy infrastructure, including oil refineries, power plants, hydroelectric dams, and fuel storage facilities, among others.

Russia said they would adhere to the Black Sea agreements in return for the reinstatement of Russian banks within the international financial system.

Additionally, the United States has agreed to lift sanctions on Moscow, particularly those affecting agricultural and fertilizer exports.

Ukrainian President Zelensky confirmed that the agreements would take effect immediately and requested more weapons for Ukraine, as well as the imposition of further sanctions on Russia in the event of any violations.

The ceasefire on energy infrastructure is set to last for 30 days, starting from March 18, with the possibility of a mutual extension. However, the Kremlin stated that if either party violates the terms, the other is not obligated to honor the agreement.
