In a petition filed with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative last week, unions representing dozens of trade groups across multiple sectors have expressed their opposition to potential fees that could be imposed on China-made shipping vessels docking at U.S. seaports. An executive order currently in its draft stage aims to shore up more funding through those fees to strengthen the American vessel building industry. Experts have told CGTN that the move could have catastrophic consequences for other American industries in the short term. CGTN's Ediz Tiyansan reports from Los Angeles.
