The issue of water scarcity at the Mexico-U.S. border region has been a growing concern for decades. Both nations have faced severe droughts worsened by climate change resulting in lower water levels in key rivers and reservoirs. Recently, the crisis has seen Mexico drain its reservoirs to make treaty-stipulated deliveries to Texas. This has left Mexico's water reserves at critically low levels, and impacting directly upon its own people – from civil society to industry.
