More than 300 U.S. National Guard troops were deployed to Los Angeles on Sunday June 8, at the direction of U.S. President Donald Trump. The move follows two days of raids carried out by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, which met resistance and widespread protests by local residents, and a number of violent incidents. Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom has threatened to sue the White House for deploying guard members to Los Angeles.
