In a stunning upset, progressive upstart Zohran Mamdani recently declared victory in the ranked-choice primary race to become the Democratic Party’s candidate for New York City mayor.
In doing so, the local lawmaker says his campaign “toppled a political dynasty” forcing former New York governor Andrew Cuomo to concede even before the final count was tallied.
