Leaders of the BRICS bloc wrapped up a two-day summit in Rio de Janeiro on Monday by reaching consensus on a broad range of issues, from global governance to climate change, and peace and security. 

But, in a clear effort to distract attention away from the group’s growing global appeal, U.S. President Donald Trump vowed an additional 10 percent tariff against countries aligning with the bloc. Lucrecia Franco reports from Rio.
