The Smithsonian Institution, which runs many of the most famous museums in the U.S., was sent a letter this week from the White House requesting a “comprehensive review” of eight museums ahead of celebrations planned for the country’s 250th birthday next year.
The letter asks all of the facilities to “remove divisive or partisan narratives, and restore confidence in our shared cultural institutions.”
