From extreme heat threatening student safety to teacher shortages affecting classrooms nationwide, American schools are facing unprecedented pressures. We begin our Back to School series with a story that hits close to home for millions of families: the hidden dangers of extreme heat in school zones. New research reveals that about 76% of students across the country attend schools in areas where buildings and pavements add at least 13 degrees Celsius of heat.
