Confusion and frustration are growing in the shipping industry, since the U.S. Trade Representative implemented new port fees for Chinese-made container vessels docking at American ports.

In an exclusive interview with CGTN, the president of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association said, some of their members were caught off guard by how the new rules are being applied. Some have already been hit with huge fees. Many are now bracing for the potential ripple effects on the global supply chains.
