U.S. lawmakers on Friday, Oct. 31, remained deadlocked as the federal government shutdown marked 30 days.

More than a million federal employees are facing financial pressures as paychecks stop.

But on Friday there was some reprieve for the most vulnerable after a judge blocked the suspension of the government’s food aid program.
