World leaders gathered in Belém, Brazil, on Thursday, November 6, for a two-day climate summit, ahead of the larger UN COP30 Climate Conference that opens next week. As host, Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said the world can no longer ignore science, warning that global temperatures have already risen more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial level.
