Three days before being sworn in as U.S. President, Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Chinese President Xi Jinping and, at Trumps invitation, a Chinese delegation attended the inauguration.
But the good vibes didn’t last. In February Trump announced 10% tariffs on Chinese goods, then quickly doubled it to 20%. China responded with tariffs of its own aimed at U.S. agriculture products.
