Exactly a year ago today, devastating wildfires swept through parts of Los Angeles County, killing 31 people and destroying more than 16,000 homes and structures in communities including Altadena, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu. The city’s reconstruction process is far from complete, and for many residents, returning to a sense of normality remains a long and uncertain journey.
