An attack and subsequent fire in southern Iran's Pars natural gas fields on Wednesday, March 18 has sent gas and fuel prices surging.
Brent Crude oil, the international oil benchmark, spiked 6% at $109 a barrel, after the news broke, the New York Times reports.
Both Iran and Qatar blamed Israel for the attack, with Qatar’s foreign ministry calling it a "dangerous and irresponsible step" in the ongoing conflict between the U.S., Israel and Iran.
Israel has not commented.
