An early-season heatwave sweeping across Southern California and the U.S. Southwest has been shattering daily and monthly temperatures in dozens of cities. 

Tens of millions of people are under extreme heat warnings. The unusually high temperatures are accelerating snowmelt, drying out vegetation, and raising concerns about an early start to the wildfire season.
