China's Qinghai–Xizang Railway has been a major route for goods and people crossing the Gobi Desert, and now it's helping to protect the environment. New efforts along the highway aim to reduce desertification, guide wildlife safely, and adapt the railway to the surrounding landscape. Edén Soto Alva reports.
