The shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has negatively impacted coordination and planning for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, said Christopher Tomney, the Director of the Office of Homeland Security (DHS) situational awareness, during a Senate committee hearing. 

He assured members of the public that "we will have a safe, secure, and enjoyable tournament."
