Middle schoolers on a bus of 40 students came to the rescue after the driver passed out behind the wheel on a four-lane highway in Hancock County, Mississippi.

The bus driver, Leah Taylor, had an asthma attack after pulling out of Hancock Middle School and blacked out before she was able to grab her medication, and the bus began to swerve.

12-year-old Jackson Casnave quickly took the wheel, while another student, Darrius Clark, hit the brakes, and the two guided the bus to a stop on a median.

13-Year-Old Kayleigh Clark called 911, and 15-year-old Destiny Cornelius helped administer a nebulizer treatment to Taylor, while 13-year-old McKenzy Finch supported Taylor’s head.

Taylor fully recovered, and the students were recognized at a school pep rally and will be rewarded with a lunch field trip.
