Trade will be on the agenda during the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump this week. The trip marks Trump’s first official visit there since 2017. 

The stakes are high as the world’s two largest economies try to navigate differences over China-U.S. relations and world peace and development, while hoping to extend a trade truce established at their last face-to-face meeting in South Korea last year.
