Activists recount violence by Israeli forces

00:55

Hear from international activists who participated in the recent Global Sumud Flotilla about the violent abuse they say was inflicted on them by Israeli soldiers that intercepted the aid vessels on May 20.

Activists said that they were detained and forced onto ‘prison boats,’ where many described being violently assaulted by Israeli officers.

Despite this, the wounded flotilla members say the violence inflicted on them is nothing compared to what Palestinians suffer under Israeli occupation, and claim that the impunity handed to Israel by the governments of the world is behind the humanitarian crisis.

Israel’s foreign ministry countered that no protesters were injured in the events that took place on Wednesday, and that its forces used non-lethal means toward the activists as a warning.
