There is a big chance that the U.S. and Iran could face off early in the knockout stages of the World Cup -- on the eve of July 4, U.S. Independence Day.

The two sides have met before during the 1998 and 2022 World Cups, and with the ongoing conflict, this could be the most politically-charged match in history.
