On June 24, two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela just 39 seconds apart, triggering one of the country's deadliest natural disasters in more than a century.

Authorities say at least 164 people have been killed, 971 injured, while more than 10,000 people remain missing as rescue crews continue searching through collapsed buildings.

The hardest-hit areas include La Guaira, Caracas, Miranda, Aragua, Carabobo and Falcón. Interim President Delcy Rodríguez declared a state of emergency, closed the country's main international airport and deployed emergency teams nationwide.

U.S. President Donald Trump said the U.S. stands "ready, willing, and able to help," with Washington mobilizing disaster assistance, while China also pledged to provide "all possible help" based on Venezuela's needs.

The death toll is expected to rise as rescuers race against time to find survivors trapped beneath the rubble.
