After playing in Vancouver on June 22, the Egyptian national team requested to fly directly to Seattle so they could prepare for their crucial World Cup clash with Iran on June 26.
But FIFA denied their request, citing regulations requiring World Cup teams to be at their base camps until the day before their matches.
Instead of flying 145 miles to Seattle, the Pharaohs had to return to their training base 400 miles away in Spokane, Washington, adding another long trip to their schedule ahead of one of the biggest matches of their campaign.
Iran has also faced recurring travel restrictions and has asked FIFA to facilitate early arrival for their game in Seattle on June 26.
