Cape Verde made history by becoming the smallest nation ever to qualify for the World Cup knockouts. Even more remarkably, the World Cup debutants remained unbeaten in 90 minutes against every opponent they faced: Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, Spain, and Argentina, with their only defeat coming after a late winner in extra time in the Round of 32.
