On July 7, two bombs exploded near the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus, where French President Emmanuel Macron had spent the night during his historic visit to Syria.

The blasts injured at least 18 people, including four police officers, according to Syrian authorities.

Macron was unharmed, having left the hotel shortly before the explosions, and continued his visit by meeting Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

Syrian officials said security forces had discovered the improvised explosive devices and were attempting to defuse them when they exploded.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
