Surveillance footage shows the scene of the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old Colombian man by ICE officers on Monday, July 13, in Biddeford, Maine.
The shooting happened during an enforcement operation targeting someone in a nearby home.
In a post on X, ICE said they were trying to stop a vehicle driven by someone coming from the home and that the man attempted to flee the scene.
An ICE officer then discharged his gun over “public safety concerns”, according to the post.
U.S. Senator Angus King’s office said that the man was not the target of the ICE operation.
The incident is the second fatal shooting by ICE in a week, prompting scrutiny by rights groups and regional protests.
