Spain captured its second FIFA World Cup title after defeating defending champion Argentina in the 2026 final in MetLife Stadium. Fans from both nations arrived confident of victory, but Spain controlled the match from start to finish.

Argentina failed to register a shot throughout regulation, and its challenge became even harder after Enzo Fernández was sent off late in the game. Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in extra time, capping a tournament in which Spain’s defense conceded just one goal.

The victory concludes an expanded World Cup featuring 48 teams, 104 matches, and record attendance
