Canadians are reacting to the Trump administration’s proposed 50% tariffs on a range of Canadian goods, marking another escalation in the trade dispute between the two countries. The measures, which would take effect in August, target products including wine, cosmetics, clothing, and sporting goods. Analysts say the tariffs stop short of targeting major Canadian exports such as energy and critical minerals but warn negotiations could take time. As tensions continue, Canada is expanding trade relationships with other partners, including China. Prime Minister Mark Carney has criticized the U.S. measures as violating the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement while calling for renewed negotiations.
