As San Diego Comic-Con wraps up, collectors and dealers say comic books remain valuable cultural artifacts and, in some cases, lucrative investments.

Experts say rarity, condition and historic significance continue to drive prices, with first appearances of iconic characters and high-grade editions commanding six- and seven-figure values.

Dealers also point to growing interest in horror comics and movie-related titles, while blockbuster films can further boost demand.

Despite the soaring prices of some issues, collectors emphasize that passion for comics and preserving their history remains the primary motivation, with many viewing their collections as a legacy for future generations.
