Venezuelan businesses begin rebuilding

One month after Venezuela’s twin earthquakes, businesses in the hardest-hit state of La Guaira are slowly reopening despite widespread destruction. Thousands of businesses were lost, leaving many residents unemployed as reconstruction begins. 

Small business owners and street vendors say returning to work is essential to rebuilding both livelihoods and community morale. Major infrastructure, including Caracas’ main airport and hotels that supported the local tourism industry, remains heavily damaged and is expected to take months or years to recover. 

Despite the challenges, many residents say they are determined to rebuild their lives. CGTN’s Stephen Gibbs reports from La Guaira.
