Europe's football authority, UEFA, and all its national associations have warned that they will not participate in any FIFA competitions if FIFA proceeds with plans to sell a minority stake in its new commercial entity, FIFA Forward Enterprises (FFE).

If the standoff continues, it could mean some of football’s biggest nations, including World Cup champions Spain, semifinalists England and France, and other European football powers, would not take part in future FIFA tournaments like the World Cup.

The next men’s World Cup in 2030, hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, could be directly affected. UEFA argues the World Cup “is not for sale,” while FIFA President Gianni Infantino says investment would help grow football globally.
