FIFA President Gianni Infantino has secured the backing of the organization’s leadership following emergency talks in Morocco over a controversial proposal to sell stakes in future World Cup tournaments to private investors. FIFA apologized for what it called “mistakes” and reaffirmed support for Infantino, but the episode has intensified scrutiny of his leadership ahead of next year’s presidential election.
