Cuban authorities are implementing an unprecedented package of reforms, which largely expands the participation of the local private initiatives in Cuban economy. Private companies can now operate in areas that were previously restricted for state. The move takes place amidst a severe economic crisis linked to punitive U.S. sanctions.
