Canada is facing new 50% tariffs on some $20 billion worth of its exports to the United States, after trade talks between the US and Canada broke down on Aug. 22.

Specific products hit include cosmetics, clothing, alcohol and even original artwork.

In response, Canada has announced retaliatory tariffs on more than 700 US products, including dairy, seafood, appliances, wood and paper products, and clothing.

The counter-tariffs, ranging from 15% to 50%, are set to take effect on Sept. 8 and are intended to match the scale of the new US tariffs on Canadian goods.
