Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday, Sept. 2, that Israel does not plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip, which it currently occupies. He also said Israeli forces captured Hamas’s head of internal security, and he vowed to continue efforts to disarm Hamas and demilitarize Gaza. Hamas accused Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire and undermining a broader U.S.-backed plan that calls for an Israeli withdrawal and Hamas disarmament.
