A 20-year-old Haitian immigrant has died by suicide after losing his Temporary Protected Status from deportation and being placed on a GPS ankle monitor.
Pierre Damas Bel had come to the U.S. to reunite with his family and pursue his education. He had just graduated high school and was preparing to attend college.
His death has reignited questions over the human cost of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
