The principal of a school near Nepal's Trishuli River was able to inform the 900 students inside the building to find safety as the massive flood tore through the region on Aug. 26. Rajendra Dawadi sent the students home as the disaster approached, telling them to go to a safe place.
Students who left then told their parents about the oncoming flood, which led more families to flee the area
