Cuba’s Foreign Minister has called Washington’s decades-long economic embargo on the island a “genocidal blockade”, and a form of “economic strangulation.” The strong language comes amid an eight-month long US energy blockade, which has worsened longstanding economic, humanitarian and infrastructure challenges in the country, intensifying the island’s humanitarian crisis.
