More than five decades after the US Table Tennis Team’s historic trip to China in 1971, a group of students outside of Washington D.C. are carrying on the legacy of building relationships through sport.

Earlier this year a Maryland school district hosted a delegation of Chinese pickleball players, and shortly after a group of young American athletes visited China.

Now that a new academic year has started here in the US, school administrators are reflecting on the lessons learned, and looking for ways to expand the pickleball diplomacy program.
