Five men were arrested in the early morning of Sunday, Sept. 27, outside a military base in Gloucestershire, Southwest England, that is operated by the US Air Force. The men are being held on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act that appears to involve the use of three trucks.

“As you would expect we are working closely with our partners to understand the circumstances of the incident,” Counter Terrorism Policing Senior National Coordinator Vicki Evans said in a statement.

“We had them under investigation. They, they were looking to do big damage to our fort. And working with the British, worked out great,.” US President Donald Trump said Sunday.

A bomb disposal robot was pictured moving among three white vans in aerial media coverage of the area surrounding RAF Fairford, a British military base used by the US Air Force.

Under an agreement with former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Fairford has been used by American bombers for limited strikes against Iranian missile sites.
