A U.S. military strike killed four people on a boat suspected of being used to smuggle drugs in the Caribbean Sea on Sunday, Oct. 4, military officials said.
The U.S. has killed 235 people in 70 strikes on alleged "narcoterrorists" in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean since the Trump administration began its targeting operation in September 2025, according to U.S. Southern Command.
The operation has remained controversial, however, as the Trump administration has offered little evidence to support claims of killing drug smugglers. The White House has continued to justify the attacks as a necessary measure to stop the flow of drugs coming into the U.S.
