What started as a village sport in rural China has made its way to the U.S., with this team of “aunties” teaching their unique form of basketball to young American athletes in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Created by a group of mothers and village women from the Miao ethnic minority in southwest China’s Guizhou, the game is played while wearing traditional ethnic clothing.
For some of these American players, the creative twist on basketball, a sport their country invented, was a delight to witness, and sparked curiosity about the diversity of Chinese culture.
