Michigan's Senate race has become one of the most closely watched contests of the 2026 midterm elections, as Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed faces Republican Mike Rogers for a seat that could influence control of the U.S. Senate.

The campaign has drawn national attention amid debates over the economy, healthcare, foreign policy and the future direction of the country.

The race took an unexpected turn on Sunday, Nov. 1, when former Democratic primary rival Haley Stevens announced her support for Rogers, sparking controversy and raising questions about Democratic Party unity. With Election Day approaching, both campaigns are making their final appeals to voters as Michigan prepares to deliver a potentially decisive result in the battle for Senate control.

CGTN's Dan Williams is in Michigan in the final hours before Tuesday's midterm election.
