Following the Democratic Party's sweeping wins in the 2026 midterm elections, taking both chambers in Congress, along with state and local races, U.S. President Donald Trump offered tepid praise to the opposition party in a Fox News interview late on election night.

Trump conceded that the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran played a role in the Republican losses, and he pledged to use the presidential veto power with the new incoming Democratic Congress.
