Democrats seized control of both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday Nov. 3, marking major victories throughout historically Republican strongholds, as tens of millions of voters delivered a rebuke to the policies of President Donald Trump.

The “blue wave” could be considered more of a “red undertow,” says American University professor of government David Barker, warning Democrats not to be too optimistic.
